Blue Bombers Shot Down By Gremio
Gremio Coed continues its perfect season after blanking the Blue Bombers 3-0 on Wednesday night.
John and Brian had a split-shutout as the tricolor improved to 4-0-0 and leads the league with 12 points.
Once again, Gremio Coed was missing several players, Karin and David (away), Sory (AWOL), Rick (injured), but had the help of call-ups Chris Berg and Nikki.
Mauricio opened up the score on a header off a great corner kick taken by Berg. The same dual connected for the second goal, as Mauricio finished on the second assist of the match for Berg. Steve put final numbers to the game scoring on a free kick blast.
Next up, Gremio Coed will play against old time rivals El Zanjon on Wed. Dec.29 at 8:24pm.
NOTES: Karin “Swede” Eriksson missed her first game since the summer season. The iron-girl had her streak snapped after playing every single game of the past two previous seasons.
Merry Christmas!

Feels Like A Win
Sometimes a tie feels like a win. Gremio felt just like that last night after walking away with a last minute goal to tie FC Force 4-4 in the rematch of the first game of the season.
The tricolor depleted squad was resilient despite missing Paul (away), Rick (injured), and Sory (MIA) but called up help from Brandon, who made his Gremio debut.
FC Force jumped to a 1-0 lead but David tied the game on a nice placement shot. FC Force scored 2 more goals but Gremio responded. Brandon scored finishing off a feed from Mauricio, after a nice give and go play with David. After Garrett won a battle for the ball in the midfield, Mauricio was able to fire a shot past the GK to tie the game 3-3.
Then, goalkeeper Chris Berg best describe the end of the game:
"After a suspect call on a corner by Ref. Keith, Gremio went down 4-3. But their resilience shined through the darkness as the captain, Mauricio, slotted a shot past the keeper for the tying goal off a nice pass from Kevin" he said.
Gremio is now 1-1-2 and will play Weder Bromen on Mon Dec.27 at 7:45pm at field A.
