Gremio Coed Scores 10 Goals

Talking about picking up where you left off. Gremio Coed was back in action after the amazing championship run and didn’t show any signs of post party.
Gremio Coed showed no mercy defeating ICG Commerce by the score of 10-1. Led by hat-tricks by David and Arsene, Gremio also had 2 goals scored by Gina, with Kevin, Mauricio and Jack also netting for the tricolor. (Pardon if info is incorrect, but it was too many goals to keep count).
Brian had a half shutout in net and Sory ended the game between the pipes allowing one goal in one shot for a 0.000% save percentage.

A Whale of Revenge

Gremio started the summer season out for blood, like a killer whale. The tricolor played the first game of the season against FC Force, defending champions, who defeated Gremio 2-0 in the playoffs. The payback was massive.
Gremio beat FC Force 5-1, showing some solid defensive soccer and an outburst of offense helped by the return of two important players Rick and David.
Paul scored the first goal of the game on a great individual effort. Mauricio made it 2-0, roofing a shot past the GK. David made it 3-0 before Paul added his second of the game for a 4-0 lead. David also added his second goal of the game and Gremio led 5-0. Defense played outstanding led by Sory, Jon Elison and Jon B.
"Rick looked great out there. It's like you never left before" said Sory.
In net, Zach made his Gremio debut replacing regular starter Chris Berg. Zach nearly got a shutout but FC Force was able to put one past the GK, who had several sensational saves in the last minutes of the game.
Gremio will be back in action next Tuesday.vs. FC Cadiz at 10pm.

Gremio Coed Perfect Cup Run

Gremio Coed won the playoffs at YSC with a perfect record: 4 games, 4 wins, 7 goals scored and only 2 goals allowed.

The journey started with a match against Stanky Legs. Defense played a terrific game limiting the opponents to very few chances but the offense couldn't click. However, in the late stages of the game, the tricolor scored the only goal, and that was all it was needed. Josh and Karin started a great passing play on the right side of the field, after feeding David, he found Mauricio on the top of the box. The fake give and go worked just perfectly as Mauricio cut the defender and with a left foot shot beat the GK for the game winner, 1-0.

Gremio had a chance for payback in the quarter-finals game against the Muts, the team that beat the tricolor in the championship game last season. The tricolor took care of business sending the Muts home and continuing the quest for the cup. Arsene put the tricolor on the board for a 1-0 lead finishing off a great pass from Kevin. An unfortunate bouce set up the Muts' tying goal. But the tricolor never gave up. With 2 minutes left, David used surgical precision on a lob pass over the defender to find Mauricio in front of the net, and Momo just tap it in for the winner 2-1.

In the semi-finals, Gremio had a second turn at payback, this time against the team that beat the tricolor in the last regular season game Cauc-One Asian. Gremio opened up the score on a all-girls goal, when Gina fed a perfect cross pass to Mellisa for a 1-0 lead. Jack made it 2-0 after receiving a feed from Karin and firing a low rocket shot. Gremio let a free kick goal in the last minute of the game but it was too little too late, 2-1.

The Championship game was against Average Joes. During the regular season, the teams battled to a 4-4 tie but this time, the tricolor was settling for nothing but trophy. Playing outstanding defense led by Sory, Josh and Jack, the tricolor once again just needed one goal to win the match. Chris set a perfect long pass to David, who fired a far side shot beating the GK for the game winner goal, 1-0.

This was the 4th title for Gremio Coed repeating the feat at least once a year, from 2008, 2009, 2010 and now 2011.

The CHAMPS: Gremio's line up

Sory, Arsene, Jack, Kevin, Chris Berg, Josh and David

Chase For The Cup

Gremio and Gremio Coed will be back in action for the playoffs this week.
Gremio will try to repeat the sensational performance from last season’s playoffs, which saw the tricolor advancing all the way to the semi-finals, after two overtime wins but coming up short and ending in 3rd place. The tricolor finished the regular season in 2nd place with a 7-1-0 record and will have a bye in the first round of the playoffs.
On Tuesday June 14, Gremio will play at 9:40pm at field 2 vs. the winner of FC Force vs. Zim Express.
Gremio Coed will also try to repeat the respectable run from last season’s playoffs, when the tricolor strong run came to an end in a disappointing loss in the championship game. The 2nd place wasn’t all that bad but the tricolor will be aiming for nothing but the great prize this time. On Wednesday June 15, Gremio Coed plays at 6:40pm vs. Stanky Legs at field 2.

Gremio Coed Drops Season Finale

On a hot steamy night, Gremio Coed couldn’t keep its cool. The tricolor dropped the last game of the regular season on a 2-1 decision against Cauc-One-Asian. David, playing his first game since the winter 1 session, scored the lone goal for the tricolor. Gremio will now get ready for another stellar run at the playoffs next week.

Gremio Wins, Finishes Season in 2nd Place

An ugly win is still a win. Gremio had some troubles early in the game but was able to defeat Zim Express by the score of 3-1. Garrett opened up the score for the tricolor finishing off a nice pass by Jon B but Gremio missed several opportunities to put the game away and eventually conceded the tying goal.
Paul hit a perfect shot off a feed from Kevin to get Gremio ahead 2-1 with 6 minutes left in the game. Mauricio put final numbers after receiving a thru ball from Pete, dribbling the GK and finally hitting the back of the net.
Next week, Gremio will be back in action for the spring playoffs.

Late Goal Propels Gremio To Win Against FC Force

In one of the most competitive recent games, Gremio was able to edge FC Force by the score of 2-1. A late tally scored by Paul with less than 2 minutes left in the game was the difference as the tricolor improved to 7-1-0 this season. Gremio remains in solo possession of 2nd place in the standings trailing Velez Sarsfield by three points.
After a scoreless first half, Gremio jumped to a 1-0 lead on a goal by Mauricio, finishing off a nice pass by Paul. Helped by some outstanding goaltending by GK Chris Berg, and solid defense by Sory and Jon Elison, Gremio protected the lead for most of the game. FC Force tied the game when Sory and Jon Elison collided, a huge break for FC Force. But Gremio kept fighting and it paid off.
With 2 minutes remain in the game; Mauricio was fouled on the top of the box. Instead of shooting, Mauricio passed (a once in a lifetime event) to Jon B., who was hiding by the left goal post. Jon then found Paul far post who had to just tap it in for the game winner.
Once again, Gremio had the support of our loyal fans, Marilena, Mariana and Anita, visiting from Porto Alegre, Brazil.
Gremio will complete the regular season next Tuesday at 8pm versus Zim Express.
