Gremio Coed Sweeps Double Header

Karin scored 3 goals in the double header night
Gremio Coed received a boost from returning players to sweep a double header with two convincing wins. Fresh from overseas, Karin from Sweden and GK Jesse from Venezuela provided goals and saves for the tricolor, as Gremio defeated Mike is a Maybe by the score of 6-3 and Craic Addicts Too by the score of 5-2.
Led by Karin's two goals, Gremio Coed also had goals by Matt, Mauricio, John and Jesse for the first win of the night.
On the night cap, Gremio has 5 goals from 5 different players, starting with Karin, followed by John, Gina, Melissa, and Kevin. Sory really tried to score but it just didn't happen.

Gremio Splits Double Header

Paul scored two goals for Gremio
Gremio walked away with split on the double header night as the tricolor lost the first game to Andy Kelly's by the score of 7-4 but rebounded in the second match with a 4-1 victory over Roslyn.
Pete led Gremio in the first game scoring twice, Mauricio and Paul also netted goals but the tricolor felt short as the troops were late getting to the pitch.
Gremio bounced back in the second game led by stellar goaltending by Chris Berg, who made many incredible saves. Paul opened up the score on a turn and shoot play. Pete made it 2-0 before Rick and Mauricio stretched the lead to 4-0. Unfortunately, Berg lost the shutout in the last minute of the game but the tricolor walked away victorious 4-1.

Back to the Winning Column

Gremio Coed got back to its winning ways with a 3-2 defeat of Penalty Box Munchers. After a loss and a tie, the tricolor stepped onto the field ready for a battle with nothing in sight but a victory.
Evan got things started sending a perfect pass to Mauricio, who on a partial breakaway just had to pick a corner for a 1-0. PBM tied the game but Matt put Gremio ahead once again, finishing a rocket shot from John, off the crossbar. PBM continued to play aggressively and tied the game at 2 but Evan finished it off scoring the game winner in the late stages of the game.
After that, Gremio played strong defense the rest of the way to ensure another win for the season.

That Was Ugly

Gremio had a rough one. The tricolor had one of the most off games in recent history dropping a 9- 4 decision to UGH. Gremio was competitive half way through the game. Brendan tied the game at 1 off a corner kick and Jon Elison also scored off a corner kick to tie the game 2-2. Then, things derailed.

No subs and a pretty depleted squad and the tricolor just allowed a bunch of goals. There was, however, a highlight, as Brendan struck a beautiful upper 90 shot for his second goal of the game.

Gremio will try to rebound next Tuesday with a double header scheduled for 10:20pm and 11pm.

No Juice?

Window Juice was no call no show but Gremio didn't care as the tricolor took a beating on the Already Drinkin FC. This squad was no threat to Gremio and other then, "turn and shoot" tall forward playing with a ziper jacket kind of open, showcasing his chest, no player could do much against the blues.
Mauricio took advantage and scored another hat-trick, padding up the stats, Rick also had 2 goals and 2 helpers and Pete scored for the 4th consecutive game.

A Solid Win

Gremio played its best game of the season defeating the very good squad of WCU Predators.
The Predators scored early but Gremio quickly responded with a goal by Mauricio. The tricolor let another goal in but then defense came alive in the second half of the game. Pete scored on a beauty to tie the game, grabbing his own rebound off the post. Then, Jack, who was called up earlier in the day, scored two goals for a 4-2 win.

Gremio Torches S.A

Gremio walked away with a 6-2 blowout win over S.A. Led by Mauricio's hat trick and Pete's 2 goals and 2 helpers, the tricolor had no problems to beat a struggling S.A team. Scott also scored as Gremio scored early and often for another win. Kevin had two assists and Sory missed his first game of the season.

Moxie Edges Gremio in Questionable Call

Moxie beat Gremio 4-3 but it wasn't without controversy. The winning goal was scored after the ball went clearly out of bounds but the ref chose not to make the call.
Moxie went up 3-1 but Gremio fought back with 2 goals by Paul to tie the game 3-3. Late in the game, Gremio had quite a few chances but could not score the tying goal. GK Chris Berg was the man of the match with a handful of incredible saves to keep Gremio in the game.

Shades of Tebow

What does Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow and Gremio striker Mauricio have in common?
They both do nothing for three quarters of the game and they play hard for the last couple minutes.
With Shades of Tebow, Gremio defeated ACN United by the score of 5-4 with 2 goals in the last 2 minutes, after trailing the entire game.
John and Matt scored for Gremio but ACN United led 4-2 in the first half of the game. Then, Gina took a corner kick and Chris Berg with a blazing header made it 4-3. The ball went upper 90 and was clocked at just a bit faster than ludicrous speed.
Then John sent a perfect feed for Mauricio, who turned on the defender and fired a low shot to tie the game at 4 with 2 minutes left. ACN United still had a chance to win, but Rick blocked a game-saving shot and Mauricio collected the rebound, went down the field, passed by a couple defenders and fired a rocket high shot for the game winning goal, 5-4.

Sory Amazing Block Saves The Game

Sory was the hero. With only a couple seconds left in the game, El Zanjon had a chance to score the winning goal but Sory Toure AKA "Not in My House" came up huge, blocking a shot from the top of the 6 with a sensational chest block.
Gremio and El Zanjon had yet another great battle. El Zanjon took an early 3-1 lead before a couple Chris' put the tricolor back in bizz. Berg score a left foot goal to make it 3-2, then Cash tied the game with his first goal since returning to the line up. Gremio and El Zanjon traded goals late in the game before Sory stood up with a the most incredible goal line stand in Gremio's history.

Gremio Coed Runs Out Time

Gremio Coed slow start proved to be costly as the tricolor dropped another one-goal decision, losing to Red Cards by the score of 5-4. Down 5-1, Gremio started another comeback on a highlight reel goal by returning player Mbiso. Evan scored his first goal for Gremio making it 5-3 before Mauricio made it 5-4 scoring off a turnover. But time ran out and tricolor couldn't come up with the tying goal.

Gremio Coed Comeback Falls Short

Down 5-0 with 10 minutes left in the game, it looked like Gremio Coed had nothing left in the tank. Not the case. The tricolor never-give-up attitude generated a furious comeback, scoring 5 goals in 9 minutes but falling short 6-5 to the Mutts. Mauricio scored the first two goals off passes from Gina and John respectively. Then, Jesse came out of net (replaced by Kevin) and netted his first ever goal for Gremio. Mauricio added 2 more, off passes from Karin but time ran out for what could have been one of the greatest comebacks ever.
"If we had another 3 minutes, we would have won the game," said MM.

Gremio Drops Close Game

It was a close one but Gremio fell to Wilco 5-3 snapping a 3-game winning streak. An early own-goal gave Gremio a 1-0 lead, but Wilco scored 3 unanswered to take over the game.
The tricolor rebounded, Mauricio made it 3-2, scoring off a free-kick, after Paul was fouled right on the top of the box. Wilco scored again but Gremio didn't give up, Mauricio received a perfect pass from Paul and shot low and the GK made a great save but Brenday finished it off to cut the lead once again.
Then Pete had an incredible chance to score but pulled a "Jon Elison" clear and missed it wide.
Player of the match award goes to Chris Berg (the only player who reads the team blog, and complains when I don't post it), with a good number of great saves, particularly early in the game.
